Skywalker: A Leap into the Sky by Kris Lin

Modern Architecture Meets Elegance in a Unique Design Concept

Named Skywalker, this design invites people to look up and marvel at the sky. The building's exterior is sleek and elegant, embodying a state of "taking off from the surface of the earth". This architectural masterpiece encourages onlookers to gaze upwards, symbolizing progress and an upward trend in all things.

The building's unique properties lie in its design techniques. Resembling an airplane, the structure presents a triangular shape. Standing at a height of 6 meters, the two-story building is primarily made of steel. Transparent light glass separates the space, giving it a modern and stylish urban temperament. The tail part of the building is upwarping, similar to an airplane's tail, emphasizing dynamism and an upward trend.

The Skywalker is constructed using aluminum plate and outdoor wood. This choice of materials adds to the building's modern aesthetic while ensuring durability. The building spans a total area of 1500 square meters, providing ample space for various functions.

The design process was a collaborative effort between Kris Lin and Jiayu Yang. They conducted thorough research on the site to ensure the design was suitable for the location. The team incorporated design elements into the architecture and interior, resulting in a harmonious blend of form and function.

The project, completed in April 2015, is located in Hangzhou, China. The design team faced challenges in dividing the interior building into several sectors with concise lines. They used a folded plate design technique to create the headspace, resembling a sailing boat's sail, which aligns with the building's "take-off" connotation. The interior is decorated in a champagne tone, with a hint of purple to exude a low-key luxurious feel.

The Skywalker design was recognized with the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award is granted to outstanding creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, advance art, science, design, and technology, and significantly impact the world with their desirable characteristics.
